Since I've posted many photos of gorgeous turquoise and cobalt blue ocean water, I decided to post a dolphins and stars tattoo of a friend complete with water and skin. A friend is also downloading this for me today. I'll be back from vacation in May. Please take the time to check out the photos with the water theme from these other photo bloggers around the world.theme day id=13 Adelaide, Australia by Gordon, Albuquerque (NM), USA by Helen, American Fork (UT), USA by Annie, Anderson (SC), USA by Lessie, Ararat, Australia by Digger, Arradon, France by Alice, Ashton under Lyne, UK by Pennine, Athens, Greece by Debbie, Auckland, New Zealand by Lachezar, Austin (TX), USA by LB, Bandung, Indonesia by Guntur Purwanto, Barton (VT), USA by Andree, Belgrade, Serbia & Montenegro by Paja, Belgrade, Serbia & Montenegro by Bibi, Bellefonte (PA), USA by Barb-n-PA, Bicheno, Australia by Greg, Bogor, Indonesia by Gagah, Boston (MA), USA by Cluelessinboston, Boston (MA), USA by Sarah, Whit, & Leyre, Boston (MA), USA by Fenix - If you've just joined our South Maui Beach Walk, go back a couple of posts to see what you missed. For those of you walking with me, we have rounded the corner from Wailea Point, and we look down upon the beautiful beach fronting the very glamorous Four Season's Resort. This is Blogtrotter's favorite so he commented, and it's much less kid-friendly than the following hotel we come across next-- the Grand Wailea Resort, and that is the buildings of the GW in the distance, not the Four Seasons.
I've posted many photos of the Four Seasons in other posts (as it's one of my favorite resorts too!), so we're moving on....We look to our left and see the way khool trampoline in the ocean in front of the Grand Wailea Resort. I've always wanted to swim out and try this one out, but I've never done it yet. I'll have to do this someday. Doesn't it look like fun?And to our right, we see families playing in a kid-friendly beach/lagoon creation of the Grand Wailea Resort. The Grand Wailea Resort has great water features and a slide if you're into that kind of thing. Count me in for water slides. Love them! My inner child is alive and well.
Notice the clothing on these children? The Maui sun can burn your skin very fast, and these children are wearing protective clothing.
Join me tomorrow for more South Maui Beach Walk.
I'm going to take you on a beach walk with me--one of my favorite beach walks on Maui--and we're going to begin here at the Kea Lani Resort beach. In the next week, I'll post photos of the many beautiful images I encounter on this walk which snakes around the South Maui Coastline past gorgeous resorts and homes. So come back often ya'll and check out these photos!
The above photo is of the Kea Lani Villas which each have a tiny swimming pool about the size of our large jacuzzi. Forget swimming laps in these pools...they're more for floating I would guess. The Villas have the highest price tag of the available rooms at the Kea Lani, and despite the fact that their pools are small, they are beautifully decorated. Click here to see a photo of the pools and interiors. The grounds of the hotel are lovely as well. Check out this fountain for example.
The above photos are the two swimming pools of the gorgeous Kea Lani Resort located in Wailea. Which one most appeals to you? The top pool has a gorgeous floral design on the bottom, and the second pool has tiny dark blue tiles. It's a totally different feeling to swim in each of them.
One of my favorite Kahului restaurants, Bridget & Bernard's Garden Cafe, has the most European cuisine, ambiance, and waitresses. So if you're visiting Maui and yearn for the European vibe, this wee restaurant is the closest you will find. This photo is taken in their outdoor seating area.
I've read that Maui is the highest in the United States for gas prices. How do yours compare?
"When I find myself in times of trouble, Mother Mary comes to me, speaking words of wisdom, let it be.
And in my hour of darkness she is standing right in front of me, speaking words of wisdom, let it be. Let it be, let it be, let it be, let it be. Whisper words of wisdom, let it be. And when the broken hearted people living in the world agree, there will be an answer, let it be.
For though they may be parted there is still a chance that they will see, there will be an answer. let it be. Let it be, let it be, ..... And when the night is cloudy, there is still a light, that shines on me, shine until tomorrow, let it be.
I wake up to the sound of music, Mother Mary comes to me, speaking words of wisdom, let it be. " ~~The Beatles
There is a famous shortcut on Maui via Hansen Road--you take it if you're driving upcountry (or back to South Maui) and wish to by-pass the Kahului traffic. There is a way to get air-borne on this road if you time it right. This only works when there are zero cars of ahead of you. What you do is step on the gas and hit the bump in the road at just the right time. Then your car wheels can briefly leave the ground, and your stomach does a little fun flip. This little trick works best with small sports cars. I've discovered one other bump on the road between Makena and La Perouse Bay, but it's not quite as exciting.
E Komo Mai means Come In!--Welcome! This is the entrance to the Maui Mall of Kahului. The harbor where the cruise ships come in is nearby, and many tourists visit this mall. Soon there will be a Whole Foods Market, the world's largest retailer of natural and organic foods, replacing the Star market in this Mall, and we're so excited about this change-over.
In past posts, I've featured photos of the famous Iao Needle, but I've never seen an artist paint it with such a vivid green color as the internationally recognized Maui artist Curtis Wilson Cost.On his website, the words "heightened realism" are used to describe his work, and I feel this wording is perfect to describe his style of art.
Whenever I look up and see a plane arriving or departing, I feel the urge to take a trip. Right now I'm blaming this feeling on Spring Fever, but actually this urge happens in every season! Here's an email which was sent to me today. I don't know the author, but I think it's very funny!"The Center for Disease Control (CDC) just issued a medical alert about a highly contageous and potentially dangerous virus that can be transmitted orally, by hand, or even electronically. It is called Weary Overload Recreational Killer (WORK). If you get WORK from your boss, or a colleague, or anyone else, DO NOT TOUCH IT. This virus can wipe out your personal life! If you come into contact with WORK you should immediately leave the premises. Take two good friends to the nearest supermarket and purchase one or both of the two known antidotes: Work Isolating Neutralizer Extract (WINE) or Bothersome Employer Elimination Reeboter (BEER). Take the antidote repeatedly until WORK has been completely eliminated from your system. Share this alert with your circle of friends. If you do not have five friends, you have already been infected and WORK is controlling your life."
Previously I've posted photos of our mangoes on our mango trees, and now the mango trees are blossoming. It's Springtime at last!! This has been the coldest winter I've ever experienced on Maui, and I'm so ready for Spring.
